Spooky Television Static

livingroom problem 1

You watch TV. You turn it off. You leave the room. You hear a buzzing noise from the TV. You enter the room. The TV is displaying static, with the volume at max, but you’re sure you turned it off. You unplug the TV. You leave the room. The buzzing starts up again. You enter the room and check the outlet. Yep, still unplugged!

Solution

Your poltergeists just want to watch TV. In a house as old as yours, there are many spirits who never had the opportunity to enjoy the glory of television, let alone binge watching. A ghost who died several centuries ago may find the technology unwieldy and confusing. Even more recent ghosts can have trouble with more modern set-ups. If you died before Game of Thrones ended, wouldn't you want to know how it all turned out?

The simple fix for this is to leave your TV running for your ghosts. If you have the time and patience, consider teaching your ghosts how to use the television themselves. Imagine you’re teaching your sweet old grandma, because you very well might be. Be sure to set a schedule and mark the times and dates they’re allowed free use of the television on a clearly labeled calendar, as time is meaningless for the dead, so a visual reminder can really help.

Slime Oozing from Walls

livingroom problem 2

This is the single most common problem homeowners living in a haunted house face. Ghosts and ghouls sure are messy! This viscous green slime pours out of your ceiling and drip drip drips all over your floors and furniture. It never seems to stop. You clean it up, but over time it just builds up into a thick gooey mass all over again.

Solution

Track the source of the oozing. Find the precise spot it leaks from. Whatever you do, DON’T cover it up! The pressure will build and eventually you’ll end up with busted walls and a much worse mess than you started with. Attach a hose to the source and let gravity do the rest, carrying to slime away to a location of your choice. If you dislike your neighbors, consider piping it into their yard.
